Modbus Data Concentrators
This webinar explains how Modbus Data Concentrators speed up data collection from large RS-485 Modbus RTU networks by polling devices continuously in the background and storing the results in internal shared memory. Instead of a PC or SCADA system reading each Modbus RTU meter or remote I/O module one-by-one (which can be slow and cause “bottlenecks”), the concentrator aggregates data from many slave devices and makes it available instantly over Modbus TCP to one or more Ethernet-based masters. The video introduces the MDC-700 series concept, reviews key capabilities such as multi-port serial polling, shared memory mapping, support for multiple Modbus TCP masters, and the built-in web configuration interface. It also demonstrates how to manage large polling lists using CSV/Excel import/export, monitor communication status per device, troubleshoot timeouts/errors quickly, and select the right MDC model based on port count and application size.
