This webinar provides an introduction to ICP DAS USA TouchPad HMI controllers and the HMIWorks development software used to build custom touchscreen interfaces for building and industrial automation. It explains the differences between the TPD series (compact touchscreens for building automation) and the VPD series (ruggedized models for industrial environments), then shows how TouchPads can act as Modbus masters to read and write data over Modbus TCP (Ethernet) and Modbus RTU (RS-485) for local monitoring and control. A live demo walks through the HMIWorks workspace, including the drag-and-drop GUI editor, built-in widgets (buttons, sliders, labels, timers, and hotspots), and how to connect screen objects to real I/O values. The video also introduces Ladder Designer and the C programming environment for adding logic, and ends with real application examples like room/zone control for lighting and HVAC, plus integrating devices such as infrared-controlled equipment and relay modules for switching loads.
