Tiny Serial to Ethernet Converters
This training webinar provides an overview of ICP DAS USA TDS Tiny Serial-to-Ethernet Device Servers and shows how they help engineers bring legacy RS-232/RS-485/RS-422 equipment onto modern Ethernet networks. It explains typical use cases such as extending serial communication distance, connecting multiple serial instruments to a central PC over a plant network, and eliminating the need for long serial cable runs. The video walks through basic setup and configuration using the built-in web interface and the eSearch utility for IP assignment, then demonstrates how the VxComm Utility creates virtual COM ports on a Windows PC so existing software can communicate with remote serial devices transparently—without rewriting applications. Finally, it covers common deployment examples in industrial automation, data logging, and SCADA systems, including peer-to-peer “serial tunnel” setups for bridging two serial endpoints across Ethernet.
