Modbus IoT Data Acquisition Systems
This training webinar is a hands-on guide to building and validating Modbus-based data acquisition systems using practical test tools and real hardware examples. It explains the difference between Modbus RTU (RS-485) and Modbus TCP (Ethernet), how Modbus data is stored in coils and registers, and why accurate register mapping and communication testing are critical before deploying a full control system. The video introduces ICP DAS USA software utilities for discovering devices, configuring communication settings, and reading/writing Modbus values for troubleshooting, along with the use of Modbus data concentrators to poll multiple Modbus RTU slave devices and make that data quickly available to multiple Modbus TCP masters over Ethernet. It also shows how engineers can move from “testing” to real applications by connecting Modbus devices to Touch Screen PLC projects in HMIWorks, creating PC-based dashboards and trend logs in EZ Data Logger, and integrating everything into SCADA software (InduSoft/Aveva Edge) for alarms, reports, schedules, and remote monitoring.
