Residential and Commercial Building Leakage Monitoring

Leakage monitoring can be applied to both large building water systems and smaller residential areas. Typical applications include water storage, drinking water purification, wastewater discharge piping, fire-fighting water systems, kitchen sinks, bathrooms, water towers, and senior home care.
Using an Internet of Things (IoT) architecture, monitoring data can be transmitted in real time through wired or wireless communication. This allows water-related conditions to be monitored from a control center while helping reduce water loss, improve household safety, and limit problems caused by leakage.
The wired solution uses an M-7026 module with 3 m S-1F Sensor Cables. Up to six S-1F Sensor Cables can be connected to a single M-7026 module, allowing six locations to be monitored at the same time. Monitoring data is sent to the control center using the module’s built-in Modbus protocol.

The wireless solution uses a ZT-2026 module with 3 m S-1F Sensor Cables. Up to four S-1F Sensor Cables can be connected to a single ZT-2026 module, allowing four locations to be monitored at the same time. Monitoring data is sent to the control center using the module’s built-in ZigBee protocol.

Standing water can occur around areas such as kitchen sinks, washing machine discharge piping, or water cylinders. A leakage monitoring system can be installed in these locations for real-time monitoring so that unnecessary standing water can be addressed promptly when a leak occurs inside the home.

Residential safety for seniors is increasingly important. In a bathroom, an elderly person could face a serious risk if they fall or experience a medical emergency while in a bathtub. A leakage monitoring system can be used to monitor the bathtub water level so that an immediate response can be initiated when an unusual event occurs.
Building water systems can include daily water storage, drinking water purification, drainage, fire-fighting water systems, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Using InduSoft SCADA software, a monitoring system can be established and trigger conditions for the digital outputs on an M-7045 module can be configured. If an event occurs, an alarm or warning light can be switched on to inform the appropriate personnel that an immediate response is required.
ICP DAS provides both wired and wireless leakage monitoring options for residential and commercial building applications. By selecting the appropriate monitoring method for each installation, users can monitor water-related conditions in real time, support more effective water use, and improve safety in homes and buildings.
