For more than 30 years, ICP DAS USA has provided cost-effective solutions for the building automation industry. Our goal is to increase and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and safety for all our building automation customers. Many customers come to ICP DAS USA looking for a solution to transform a traditional control system into an automated smart building control system. Some are hesitant because the technology is new and modern, and they are more comfortable with traditional control systems they already know well.
What many customers don’t realize is how implementing the solution below can save money, time, and—most importantly—headaches, making life easier for professionals like you. ICP DAS USA recently worked with a customer who manages hospitals in the Los Angeles area and needed to implement a lighting and control system across all managed hospitals. ICP DAS USA transformed their traditional control system into an automated smart building control system using the following architecture for monitoring and control.

The TPD Series, specifically the TPD-283U-H, replaced the previous controller and display. The TPD, which can also communicate via DCON protocol, used both Modbus TCP over Ethernet and Modbus RTU over RS-485 to communicate with sensors and devices located throughout the facility.
For most temperature control applications, control and sensor data are separated into discrete systems where the master control panel can communicate only with device controllers under its own architecture. This makes system expansion time-consuming because when a new sensor or module is added, a new architecture must be designed. ICP DAS USA created the TPD series to simplify the process of adding new devices and sensors to your network. The TPD series combines automation control for building automation with data acquisition and display for temperature and humidity sensors.
The TouchPAD (TPD) series features all-in-one functionality, including rapid integration, easy maintenance, and built-in display. It reduces costs by eliminating the need to install both a PLC and an HMI, while offering more user-friendly features than using a separate PLC and HMI. The TPD series is designed to control devices with communication interfaces and functions as a controller equipped with display capabilities.
The TPD-283U-H and a variety of Modbus sensors and control products work together to provide a wide range of options for applications such as cooling control, heating control, and alarm control—all under one system architecture. It is one of the best and most successful solutions for professionals in the building automation industry.
