ICP DAS USA, a leading manufacturer of high-quality industrial control products, is pleased to announce that a premier European automotive manufacturer has chosen to implement ICP DAS data acquisition products into a vital stage of high-performance engine production.
With the ever-changing demands of today’s automotive industry, it’s no surprise that manufacturers are constantly facing new challenges. By developing and implementing de facto performance benchmarks, automotive manufacturers can evaluate and project the reliability of a powertrain well before it leaves the production floor. To support such elaborate and stringent testing methodologies, manufacturers rely heavily on complex networks of data acquisition equipment to dynamically gather critical data and relay it back to design engineers in an organized and timely manner.
Considering these requirements, ICP DAS USA set out to implement a robust and readily available solution that would provide the manufacturer with extensive flexibility for their I/O needs, while also offering a diversified, commercial off-the-shelf hardware solution. After assessing the project’s requirements, ICP DAS USA chose to implement the I-7000 family of remote data acquisition modules, as this series allows for infinitely customizable configurations to precisely monitor both analog and digital production data.
Because of the customer’s reputation for producing industry-leading high-performance automobiles, ICP DAS USA offered a comprehensive PC-based data acquisition solution that seamlessly integrates the ICP DAS I-7000 distributed I/O modules into the existing industrial network. Once deployed, the modules directly interacted with the most precise areas of the customer’s manufacturing process—engine dynamics testing. The customer was impressed not only with the ease of integration and availability of the I-7000 modules, but also with their straightforward configuration and user-friendly operation.
By deploying the I-7000 modules on their PC-based data acquisition network, the customer was able to configure them easily using the included ICP DAS DCON software, and then deploy them across the local RS-485 network.
Months after integration, the customer continues to praise the ICP DAS I-7000 series for its “functionality, ease of use, and environmental resilience.” The customer noted that, through the implementation of the I-7019R, I-7024, and other I-7000 I/O modules, new levels of capability were added to their in-house engine dynamometers and wind tunnels.
ICP DAS USA is confident that, following this successful implementation, the customer will continue to standardize ICP DAS I-7000 solutions throughout their international manufacturing network.
