WISE Aquaculture Automation

Introduction

Overfishing has become a global environmental crisis in this day and age, and our oceans are being plundered. Since ocean resources are limited, the aquaculture industry must become eco-friendlier and more sustainable. With advances in technology and rising labor costs, greater levels of automation—such as monitoring water temperature, oxygen content, and pH value—have been introduced into aquaculture production to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

By using the WISE-5231M-4GE, you can continuously monitor fishponds and perform routine control operations at scheduled intervals. In addition, the WISE-5231M-4GE is equipped with SMS sending (for alarm reports) and SMS command receiving functions. Even without a network connection, it can still send and receive text messages to complete tasks in real time.

Description

To prevent fish from dying due to a lack of oxygen, most fishponds adopt high stocking densities. This not only requires water pumps for circulation to maintain water quality but also demands aeration to increase oxygen saturation in the water.

In this application, the ICP DAS USA WISE-5231M-4GE is connected to water pumps and water tank aerators. By using the Schedule function of the WISE-5231M-4GE, the aerators are set to start at 10:00 a.m. and stop at 5:00 p.m. daily for routine automatic water aeration.

When an unusual event or damage occurs, the WISE-5231M-4GE will send SMS messages to notify operators for immediate response and real-time maintenance. Operators can also send SMS commands to the WISE-5231M-4GE to start the water pumps and increase water pressure, producing more splashing water to increase oxygen saturation. This prevents massive fish deaths caused by aerator malfunctions.

Additionally, the WISE-5231M-4GE can be connected to various I/O devices, such as temperature or water quality sensors, to monitor and record real-time pond conditions. By setting IF-THEN-ELSE logic rules, it can immediately notify operators when unusual events occur, such as low temperature or abnormal pH values.

By using the ICP DAS USA WISE-5231M-4GE, losses due to unexpected accidents can be dramatically reduced while enhancing the functionality and reliability of the entire aquaculture system.

Product – WISE-5231M-4GE

The ICP DAS USA WISE-5231M-4GE is the next-generation model that expands on the capabilities of the previous WISE series controllers. It provides enhanced I/O support and communication features, allowing connections with a wide range of I-7000 / M-7000 Remote I/O modules, Modbus RTU/Modbus TCP devices, and 4G LTE communication for remote access.

With a microSD card, it provides Data Logger functionality to record I/O data in real time and send data files via FTP or Email to the control center on a scheduled basis for administrative management or analysis. The WISE-5231M-4GE also features SMS sending for alarm reporting and SMS command receiving for two-way interaction with operators in real time.
