Fieldbus Technology and Integration Solutions
This webinar is an engineer-focused overview of fieldbus communication and integration solutions, explaining how different industrial protocols can be connected together in real automation systems. It starts by defining what a fieldbus is and why protocols matter, then reviews common industrial networks used for sensors, actuators, valves, meters, PLCs, and remote I/O—including CAN-based systems, building automation protocols like BACnet, and high-speed Ethernet-based protocols such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and PROFINET. The training explains typical network topologies (daisy chain, star, ring, branch/tree) and shows where gateways, converters, repeaters, and switches fit to extend distance, improve reliability, and enable interoperability—often by converting specialized fieldbus data back to Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP for easier SCADA/PLC integration. The webinar concludes with a live demonstration of configuring and testing a tGW-715 Modbus TCP ↔ Modbus RTU gateway, including IP assignment, serial port settings, and using a Modbus test tool to verify real-time register communication between an Ethernet master and RS-485 slave devices.
